Overview
Damp-Heat in the Lung and the surface of the Upper Jiao. The San Jiao reading of early, misty damp-heat — not a second copy of Wind-Heat.
Differentiate from
- Wind-Heat (sore throat, floating rapid pulse, little greasy coat)
- Damp-Heat Invading the Spleen (stools and appetite dominate)
Etiology
Summerheat-Damp, lingering warm-damp pathogen, damp climate plus weak Lung and Spleen.
Treatment Principle
Diffuse the Upper Jiao; aromatically transform Damp.
Representative formulas. San Ren Tang (Xing Ren / Upper Jiao emphasis); Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Tang if turbid Damp is stronger.
Representative points. LU-7, LI-4, REN-17, P-6, SJ-5, BL-13, SP-9.
