Overview
Damp and Heat bound together. Named further by location (Liver-GB, Bladder, LI, Spleen-Stomach, Lower Jiao, skin, joints).
Differentiate from
- Phlegm-Heat (more sputum and chest, less urinary/skin damp)
- pure Heat (dry, no heaviness)
- Cold-Damp (pale tongue, no burning)
Etiology
Damp climate, sweet/greasy/alcohol diet, preexisting Spleen xu that lets Damp brew into Heat.
Treatment Principle
Clear Heat; resolve Damp; open the San Jiao so Damp can leave.
Representative formulas. San Ren Tang (diffuse); Yin Chen Hao Tang (Liver-GB); Ba Zheng San (Bladder); Ge Gen Qin Lian Tang or Bai Tou Weng Tang (LI).
