Overview

Damp-Heat lodged in the middle jiao. The Zang-Fu name is Damp-Heat Invading the Spleen. The Wen Bing / San Jiao name for the same middle-burner picture (Spleen and Stomach together) is Middle Jiao Damp-Heat. One page, not two.

Differentiate from

Cold-Damp Encumbering the Spleen
Stomach Fire (burning hunger, dry yellow coat)
Upper Jiao Damp-Heat (chest and head, not stools)

Etiology

Greasy/sweet/alcohol diet; summer-damp; Spleen xu allowing Damp to ferment.

Treatment Principle

Clear Heat; resolve Damp; awaken the Spleen; restore the middle pivot.

Representative formulas. Lian Po Yin; San Ren Tang when all three burners are damp; Yin Chen Hao Tang if jaundice; Gan Lu Xiao Du Dan in toxic damp-heat.
