Overview

Exterior Heat riding Wind into the Lung.

Differentiate from

  • Wind-Cold (chills dominate, no sore throat of this type, tight pulse)
  • Qi-level Lung Heat (no aversion to wind, higher fever)

Etiology

Warm-febrile pathogen, seasonal wind-heat, contagion.

Pathomechanism

Wind-Heat attacks the Lung, impairing dispersal and generating heat.

Treatment Principle

Release the exterior with cool acridity; clear Heat; descend Lung Qi.

Representative formulas. Sang Ju Yin; Yin Qiao San when the throat and Wei level dominate.

Representative points. LU-5, LI-4, LI-11, LU-11, GB-20, DU-14, SJ-5.
