Overview

The Lung is dry. Empty heat may appear.

Differentiate from

  • Wind-Dryness (acute exterior signs)
  • Phlegm-Heat (yellow sticky sputum, greasy coat)

Etiology

After Warm disease, smoking, chronic dryness, Kidney Yin xu failing to moisten Metal.

Pathomechanism

Insufficient Lung Yin fails to moisten, and empty heat arises.

Treatment Principle

Nourish Lung Yin; moisten dryness; clear empty heat.

Representative formulas. Bai He Gu Jin Tang; Sha Shen Mai Men Dong Tang; Mai Wei Di Huang Wan when Kidney is involved.

Representative points. LU-9, REN-17, BL-43, BL-13, KI-6, SP-6, REN-4.
