Overview

Heart Yin cannot nourish or anchor the Shen. Empty heat appears in the evening.

Differentiate from

  • Heart Blood Deficiency (pale tongue, no empty heat)
  • Heart Fire Blazing (full heat, yellow coat, overflowing pulse)

Etiology

Anxiety, overwork, aging, febrile after-effects, Kidney Yin xu failing to control Heart Fire.

Pathomechanism

Deficient Yin fails to anchor the Shen and empty heat arises.

Treatment Principle

Nourish Heart Yin; clear empty heat; calm the spirit.

Representative formulas. Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan; Huang Lian E Jiao Tang when Fire is more obvious.

Representative points. HT-7, P-6, HT-6, SP-6, KI-6, REN-4, REN-14.
