Overview

The Heart lacks Qi to govern Blood and house the Shen.

Differentiate from

  • Heart Blood Deficiency (insomnia, poor memory, thin pulse, more pallor of the lips)
  • Heart Yin Deficiency (night sweats, red tip)

Etiology

Emotional strain, chronic illness, blood loss, overwork.

Treatment Principle

Tonify Heart Qi; calm the spirit.

Representative formulas. Bao Yuan Tang; Zhi Gan Cao Tang when pulse is irregular; Gui Pi Tang if Spleen is also weak.

Representative points. HT-5, P-6, BL-15, REN-17, REN-6, DU-14.
