Overview
The Lung cannot descend, diffuse, or govern Wei Qi.
Differentiate from
- Lung Yin Deficiency (dry cough, night sweats)
- Phlegm-Damp Obstructing the Lung (copious sputum, slippery pulse)
Etiology
Repeated exterior invasions, overuse of the voice, chronic grief, Spleen xu failing to generate Metal.
Pathomechanism
The Lung fails to govern Qi and disperse Wei Qi, weakening respiration and the exterior.
Treatment Principle
Tonify Lung Qi; consolidate the exterior.
Representative formulas. Yu Ping Feng San; Si Jun Zi Tang directed to the Lung; Bu Fei Tang.
Representative points. LU-9, LU-7, BL-13, DU-12, ST-36, REN-6.
