Overview
Phlegm from Cold, usually in the Lung or middle jiao. Sputum is white, watery, and worse in cold weather.
Differentiate from
- Damp-Phlegm (heavier, greasier, less icy)
- Phlegm-Heat (yellow sputum, rapid pulse)
Etiology
Repeated Wind-Cold; Spleen and Kidney Yang xu generating Yin-type Phlegm.
Treatment Principle
Warm and transform Cold-Phlegm; tonify Spleen and Kidney if chronic.
Representative formulas. She Gan Ma Huang Tang; Ling Gan Wu Wei Jiang Xin Tang; Su Zi Jiang Qi Tang when Kidney is also weak.
Representative points. LU-5, LU-9, BL-13, REN-17, ST-40, BL-23 with moxa.
