Overview
Phlegm stirred by Wind — interior Liver Wind or, less often, exterior Wind. Sudden dizziness, numbness, or seizure-like movement.
Differentiate from
- Liver Yang Rising without Phlegm (less greasy coat, less sputum)
- Phlegm-Damp (heaviness without Wind movement)
Etiology
Spleen making Phlegm, Liver stirring Wind; aging with Yin xu and Phlegm; after Wind-stroke.
Treatment Principle
Extinguish Wind; transform Phlegm; settle the Liver.
Representative formulas. Ban Xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang; Ding Xian Wan; Tian Ma Gou Teng Yin modified with Phlegm herbs.
