Overview

Cold congealing Blood in the vessels or uterus. Pain is fixed and better with warmth.

Differentiate from

  • Blood Stasis without Cold (no relief from heat, less chill)
  • Qi Stagnation (moving distension, wiry pulse, less purple)

Etiology

Exterior Cold invading; Yang xu allowing Cold to congeal Blood; exposure during menses or postpartum.

Treatment Principle

Warm the channels; dispel Cold; invigorate Blood.

Representative formulas. Wen Jing Tang; Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang; Dang Gui Si Ni Tang.

Representative points. REN-4 with moxa, REN-6, ST-29, SP-8, SP-10, LIV-3, DU-4.
