Overview

Blood stagnates in the Liver, hypochondrium, or Uterus.

Differentiate from

  • Liver Qi Stagnation (moving distension, less purple)
  • Damp-Heat in Liver (yellow greasy coat, burning discharge)

Etiology

Prolonged Liver Qi stagnation; Cold; trauma; Blood xu leaving Blood unable to move.

Treatment Principle

Invigorate Liver Blood; move Qi; soften masses if present.

Representative formulas. Ge Xia Zhu Yu Tang; Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang (lower abdomen); Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang (upper).

Representative points. LIV-3, SP-10, BL-17, SP-6, LIV-14, REN-6.
