Overview
Impaired circulation of Qi, most often from Liver constraint. Pain and distension move; mood and bowels change with stress.
Differentiate from
- Blood Stasis (fixed, stabbing, night pain, purple tongue)
- Food Stagnation (foul belching, thick coat after overeating)
- Phlegm-Qi (plum-pit with greasy coat)
Etiology
Emotional constraint, frustration, irregular meals, lack of movement.
Treatment Principle
Move Qi; soothe the Liver; regulate the middle.
Representative formulas. Yue Ju Wan; Chai Hu Shu Gan San; Xiao Yao San when Blood is also weak.
Representative points. LIV-3, LI-4, GB-34, LIV-14, P-6, SJ-6.
