Description

Wu Ji San (Five-Accumulation Powder), from the Xian Shou Li Shang Xu Duan Mi Fang (Secret Recipes for Treating Wounds and Bone-Setting Taught by Celestials) by Taoist Lin.

Actions: Releases the exterior; Warms the interior; Smoothes qi circulation and dissolves phlegm; Activates blood circulation and resolves accumulation.

Presentation: Wind-cold at the exterior with five accumulations in the interior: fever, chills, no perspiration, headache, soreness of the body, neck stiffness, chest fullness, lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Also for women with abdominal and chest pain from qi and blood disharmony, and menstrual irregularities that are cold in nature.

Note: the book also describes a formula of the same name from Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang (p. 303). This record follows the Xian Shou Li Shang Xu Duan Mi Fang version.

Preparation

Grind all except Rou Gui and Zhi Qiao coarsely and dry-fry on low heat until the color changes; cool, then mix in powdered Rou Gui and Zhi Qiao. Cook 9g of the mixture with 3 slices Sheng Jiang in 1.5 bowls water down to 0.5 bowl; take warm, strained.
