Classical calendar method

Open points by the hour

Which points the classical Zi Wu Liu Zhu tables open at a given double-hour, by method, each from one named source. These are the tables as the texts give them, not a recommendation: they say what the method opens, not what a patient needs.

The double-hours follow the time zone's clock (daylight saving removed). "Use my location" reads them on true solar time at your longitude instead — only the longitude is used, and it never leaves your browser at finer than about a kilometre.

Horary tide

丑 hour (01:00–03:00): the Liver channel is in its tide.

Na Jia Fa 納甲法 per Xu Feng, Zhenjiu Daquan (1439)

The 丁丑 hour is closed in this method: Xu Feng's verse opens no point at it. No other tradition's table is used to fill it.

1987 text collated with the Ming Wanli 鄭氏宗文堂 print, via the 中醫笈成 (jicheng.tw) transcription.

Na Zi Fa 納子法 per Yang Jizhou, Zhenjiu Dacheng (1601)

The channel in its tide is reduced at its own hour; the channel whose tide has just passed is reinforced.

Classical calendar method ·

Qi year 丙午 (bǐng wǔ) · 大寒 (Major Cold) to 大寒

(Shaoyang ministerial fire)

23 Sep – 22 Nov — 秋分 (Autumn Equinox) to 小雪 (Minor Snow).

The qi year is divided into six steps (六氣) of about 61 days each. Every step carries a fixed host qi (主氣) — the weather that season always has — under a guest qi (客氣) that moves round with the year. This one pairs guest 少陽相火 (Shaoyang ministerial fire) over host 陽明燥金 (Yangming dry-metal).

Year movement (中運) — the year's governing phase
太羽 · water, in excess (太過)
Celestial controller (司天) — the qi over the whole year
Shaoyin sovereign fire
Earthly spring (在泉) — its partner, over the second half
Yangming dry-metal

The Suwen (ch. 66) gives this qi's nature as dryness (燥). Pattern pages that name dryness:

A classical calendar reference, not a forecast. It does not say anyone will fall ill. Sources: Suwen ch. 66, 68 and 71; Zhang Jiebin, Leijing Tuyi (1624).

Classical calendar method: reference tables from named classical sources, shown as those texts give them. They do not predict illness and are not a treatment recommendation; point selection, technique and contraindications remain the practitioner's. Every point shown carries its monograph's cautions.
