Overview
The Lung is dry but empty-heat signs are still mild. Early Yin xu or exterior Dryness.
Differentiate from
- Lung Yin Deficiency (night sweats, five-center heat, peeled tongue)
- Dry-Phlegm (more sticky scanty sputum with chest oppression)
Etiology
Autumn dryness; heating season; after Wind-Heat; smoking; Yin beginning to fail.
Treatment Principle
Moisten the Lung; nourish Fluids.
Representative formulas. Sang Xing Tang (exterior Dryness); Qing Zao Jiu Fei Tang; Bai He Gu Jin Tang when Yin xu is clearer.
Representative points. LU-9, REN-4, KI-6, SP-6, REN-12, BL-13.
