Description
Run Zao Shen Shi Tang (Moisten Dryness and Leach Out Dampness Decoction), from Bases of Medicine (1861).

Actions: Aromatically transforms dampness and causes it to flow away; Moistens dryness
Indications: Disorientation and clouded consciousness, phlegm difficult to expectorate, interior heat, irritability, incomplete bowel movements, scanty dark urine, mixed white-yellow coating that looks moist but is dry when scraped; right proximal pulse checked and indistinct, left submerged, wiry, and rapid.
Pattern: Cool-wind-dryness fettering the exterior with constrained damp-heat in the interior veiling the sensory orifices
Usage: For simultaneous exterior (Lung) dryness and interior (Spleen) damp-heat in late summer/early autumn; by Shi Shou-Tang, pairing slippery acrid seeds with aromatic draining herbs.
