Description

Qiong Yu Gao (Beautiful Jade Paste), from the Hong Shi Ji Yan Fang (Time-Tested Formulas of the Hong Family).

Actions: Nourishes yin and moistens the Lung; Tonifies qi and strengthens the Spleen.

Presentation: Lung yin and Spleen qi deficiencies: generalized deficiency and debility, dry coughing with streaks of blood, dry throat, muscle wasting, shortness of breath, and fatigue.

Cautions:

  • Contraindicated for coughing of blood caused by exterior conditions.

Herb–drug interactions:

  • ACE inhibitor-induced cough: Qiong Yu Gao was effective in preventing the dry cough

Preparation

Powder Ren Shen and Fu Ling; filter the honey; simmer Di Huang for its juice. Combine and cook over low heat for 3 days into a thick paste; store in silver, stone or porcelain (avoid iron). Take 2 spoonfuls [6-9g] in the morning with hot water or warm grain liquor.
