Energetics dose-weighted
The formula's overall nature, taste balance and channel reach, weighted by each herb's dose. Classical formulas often pair warm and cool herbs on purpose, so a net figure summarises the mix — it doesn't describe every herb in it.
Nature
Net neutral (-0.19)
From 100% of the weighed grams.
Grams by band: cold 29%, neutral 33%, warm 38%.
Pairs warm and cool. 38% of the weighed grams are warm or hot and 29% cool or cold — the net is their average, not the whole story.
Small but decisive: Niu Bang Zi 3g (cold, 10% of the grams). Dose weighting nearly cancels a herb this small, but it may be what the formula is for.
Taste
- pungent 14%
- sweet 52%
- bitter 33%
From 100% of the weighed grams.
Channels reached
- Lung 100%
- Large intestine 38%
- Stomach 33%
- Kidney 29%
- Liver 29%
- Spleen 24%
Share of the grams entering each channel, from 100% of the weighed grams.
Dose-weighted from each herb's recorded nature, taste and channels (missing values are left out, never counted as neutral). It describes the composition — it is not a recommendation.
Preparation
Source: dry-fry E Jiao with bran, pound, blend with Nuo Mi and dry-fry again; powder the rest and mix; cook 3-6g in 1 large bowl of water down to 60%; take warm after meals. Today decoct the herbs at bracketed doses except E Jiao, which is dissolved separately and added to the strained decoction.
