Location

On the palmar aspect of the index finger, on the radial side of the midline of the proximal phalanx, 3 fen distal to the midpoint of that segment.

Needling

Depth: 2–3 fen (about 0.2–0.3 cun)

Angle: Perpendicular, shallow

⚠ Cautions: Needled on the left side only in men and the right side only in women, per Tung's convention for the Jian group.

Regulates qi in the lower abdomen
Benefits the prostate and the genitals
Regulates the Heart

Indications

Prostatitis and enlarged prostatehernia and testicular painlower abdominal distensionpalpitations and chest tightnessconjunctivitis

Clinical Notes

One of the Five Jian (大間, 小間, 浮間, 外間, 中間) on the index finger. Da Jian, Xiao Jian and Zhong Jian together form the standard Dao Ma set for prostate and hernia complaints.
