On the chest, in the depression at the lower border of the clavicle, 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
Needling
Depth:
0.3–0.5 cun
Angle:
Oblique or transverse
⚠ Cautions: Pneumothorax risk on deep perpendicular insertion.
Functions
- Descends rebellious qi and relieves cough and asthma
- Aids the Kidney in grasping the qi
Indications
Cough, asthma and shortness of breathchest painvomiting and poor appetite
Clinical Notes
The terminal point of the Kidney channel; useful in chronic asthma where the Kidney fails to grasp the qi, usually with KI3 and CV17.
