Location
Two points on the dorsum of each hand: between the second and third metacarpals, and between the fourth and fifth metacarpals, midway between the wrist crease and the metacarpophalangeal joints.
Needling
Depth:
0.5–0.8 cun
Angle:
Oblique, directed toward the centre of the palm
Functions
- Relieves acute lumbar sprain
- Activates the channels and moves qi and blood
Indications
Acute low back sprain — the primary indicationacute lumbar pain with restricted movement
Clinical Notes
Needled bilaterally with strong stimulation while the patient gently moves the lower back. Among the most dramatic distal techniques in the repertoire for an acute lumbar sprain.
