Location

On the lower back, on the posterior midline, below the spinous process of L3.

Focks' Atlas of Acupuncture also records a three-point variant: this midline point plus two points 3 cun lateral to it.

How to locate: With the patient prone, find L4 on the line joining the iliac crests, move up one spinous process to L3, and locate the point on the midline in the depression below its tip.
