Location

On the upper abdomen, on the anterior midline, 2 cun above the umbilicus.

How to locate: With the patient supine, divide the midline between the umbilicus and the sternocostal angle into eight equal parts (8 cun); the point is 2 cun above the umbilicus, a quarter of the way up.

Regional anatomy: Skin and subcutaneous tissue, then the linea alba, transversalis fascia and extraperitoneal fascia; the peritoneum and abdominal viscera lie beneath.
