Location

On the upper back, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of T2.

Needling

  • Shallow needling only
Depth: 0.5–0.8 cun
Angle: Oblique, directed medially
Moxibustion: Cupping and moxibustion at BL12 and BL13 are the classical preventive treatment for people who catch cold easily.
⚠ Cautions: Pneumothorax risk on deep perpendicular insertion.

  • Descends Lung qi and relieves cough
  • Strengthens the defensive qi
