Description

Wu Hu Zhui Feng San (Five-Tiger Powder to Pursue Wind), from the Shi Chuan En Jia Chuan Fang (Family Formulas from Shi Chuan-En (published in Zhong Yi Za Zhi, Journal of Chinese Medicine)) by Shi Chuan-En — a variation of Yu Zhen San.

Actions: Dispels wind; Relieves muscle spasms; Alleviates pain.

Presentation: Tetanus with lockjaw, continuous spasms and cramps of the extremities, convulsions, and kyphosis.

Composition: Separately, 1.5g Zhu Sha (Cinnabaris) powder taken with 60 mL grain liquor; the book notes Zhu Sha is a toxic heavy metal rarely used today and usually removed or substituted.

Preparation

Decoct and take strained. Take 1.5g powdered Zhu Sha separately with 60 mL grain liquor. Sweating of palms and soles indicates effect; if absent, repeat next day, up to three consecutive days.
