Description
Dang Gui Bei Mu Ku Shen Wan (Tangkuei, Fritillaria, and Sophora Decoction), from Essentials from the Golden Cabinet (c. 220).
Associated formula of Zhu Ling Tang.
Actions: Drains heat; Promotes the resolution of dampness; Opens constraint; Nourishes the blood
Indications: Painful urinary dysfunction, urinary difficulty, dark yellow or reddish urine, irritability, stuffy chest, normal digestion; yellow coating; thin, slippery, rapid pulse.
Pattern: Damp-heat pouring into the lower burner with qi constraint and blood deficiency
Usage: Originally for urinary difficulty in pregnancy with normal appetite; now for painful urination in either sex, and extended to chronic cough and mucous-membrane inflammation.

Preparation
Powder made into aduki-bean-sized honey pills; take 3 pills, up to 10. Or decoct with doses up to 30g each, adding an equal amount of honey to the strained liquid. For men, source adds 15g hua shi.
