Meeting point of the Small Intestine, Gallbladder and Triple Energiser channels

Location

On the face, anterior to the tragus and posterior to the condyloid process of the mandible, in the depression that forms when the mouth is open.

How to locate: Ask the patient to open the mouth; a clear depression appears in front of the ear, between TE21 above and GB2 below.

Needling

Depth: 0.5–1.0 cun
Angle: Perpendicular, with the mouth held open
⚠ Cautions: Insert with the mouth open and leave it open, or the needle may bind as the joint closes.

Clinical Notes

The central of the three ear points (TE21, SI19, GB2), and usually the most effective single point for tinnitus.
