Location

On the face, at the junction of the nasal cartilage and the nasal concha, at the upper end of the nasolabial groove.

How to locate: With the patient seated or supine, slide a fingertip up the nasolabial groove from beside the nostril to its upper end; the point is in the small hollow where the nasal cartilage meets the bone of the side of the nose.

Regional anatomy: Skin and subcutaneous tissue, then levator labii superioris alaeque nasi; the angular artery and vein (the terminal part of the facial vessels) run close by.

Clinical Notes

Often more effective than LI20 for chronic nasal obstruction; the two are usually used together.

Yintang, Yingxiang and Shangyingxiang

Yintang, Yingxiang and Shangyingxiang around the bridge and sides of the nose — a set to expel wind, open the nose, benefit the eyes and relieve pain.
