Location

On the face, at the junction of the lateral quarter and medial three-quarters of the infraorbital margin.

How to locate: With the patient seated or supine and the eyes closed, trace the lower bony rim of the orbit and divide it into quarters; the point is at the junction of the lateral quarter and the medial three-quarters, just above the rim.

Regional anatomy: Skin, subcutaneous tissue and orbicularis oculi, then the inferior tarsal muscle and inferior oblique into the orbital fat toward the inferior rectus; the eyeball lies directly above the needle path along the orbital floor.

Needling

Depth: 0.5–1.0 cun

Angle: Directed slowly along the orbital floor toward the optic foramen, with the eyeball pushed gently upward

⚠ Cautions: High-risk point requiring specific training. Do not lift, thrust or rotate; withdraw slowly and press for a full minute. Haematoma is common.
