Zu Qian Jin and Zu Wu Jin
Star足千金足五金 (Zú Qiān Jīn Zú Wǔ Jīn)
Master Tung Ching Chang, Tung's Extraordinary Points.
Points
-
Upper; the principal point
-
Lower
Treatment Principle
Clear the throat and descend rebellious qi from the lateral lower leg.
Indications
Method
Needle both, perpendicular, 1.0 to 1.5 cun. Retain 20 to 30 minutes. Often combined with bleeding at LU11 or the ear apex in acute cases.
⚠ Cautions
A sore throat with high fever, drooling, difficulty swallowing or stridor needs urgent medical assessment. Suspected streptococcal infection needs medical management.
About
Tung's distal pairing for the throat, on the posterior border of the fibula below the Ce San Li group.
Rationale
Both points lie on Shaoyang territory of the leg, and the Shaoyang and its branches reach the throat. The combination's secondary indications — shoulder and neck pain, sciatica — follow the same channel rather than the throat.
Clinical Notes
In practice usually combined with a bleeding technique for acute tonsillitis, where the two together act faster than either alone.
