  2. T.77.18 Ming Huang bilateral or unilateral

    Middle; Liver and yin

  3. T.77.19 Ren Huang bilateral or unilateral

Treatment Principle

Tonify the three yin of the leg together — Kidney, Liver and Spleen — as a single sustained action rather than three separate ones.

Indications

Chronic fatigue and constitutional depletiondiabeteshypertensioninsomniairregular menstruation and infertilitylow back pain of the deficient typedizziness and blurred visionfrequent urination and nocturiakidney disorderspoor memory

Method

Needle all three, perpendicular, 1.0 to 1.5 cun. May be used unilaterally or bilaterally. Retain 30 to 45 minutes. Tung used the group over repeated sessions rather than as a single intervention.

Needle order: Tian Huang, Ming Huang, Ren Huang — proximal to distal.

⚠ Cautions

Ren Huang sits at SP6 and carries the same pregnancy contraindication.

About

The Lower Three Emperors run up the medial lower leg from SP6 to SP9 territory. They are the Tung system's answer to a Kidney-and-Spleen tonifying herbal formula: broad, slow-acting and constitutional rather than symptomatic.

Rationale

The three points sit on the pathway shared by the Spleen, Liver and Kidney channels of the leg. Needling them as a Dao Ma treats that shared territory as one, which is why the indications span such different-looking conditions — diabetes, insomnia, infertility, chronic fatigue — all of which Tung understood as depletion of the same three yin.

Clinical Notes

This is a course-of-treatment group, not a one-visit fix. Expect change over weeks. It combines naturally with the Shang San Huang on the thigh when the Liver is the dominant part of the picture.
