Botanical Description
Rubus henriquesii is an apomictic European microspecies of bramble within the Rubus fruticosus aggregate (Rosaceae), described from the Iberian Peninsula. It is a scrambling, semi-evergreen shrub with long, arching, prickly biennial canes that root at the tips; primocane leaves are typically palmately compound with three to five toothed, dark green leaflets that are paler beneath. Terminal panicles of white to pale pink, five-petalled flowers appear in summer and are followed by aggregate drupelet 'blackberry' fruits that ripen black. As with other members of the R. fruticosus complex, it reproduces apomictically and forms stable local populations. It occupies hedgerows, woodland margins, heath edges and disturbed scrub in Portugal and adjacent parts of Spain.
