Description

Ting Li Da Zao Xie Fei Tang (Descurainia and Jujube Decoction to Drain the Lung), from the Jin Gui Yao Lue (Essentials from the Golden Cabinet) by Zhang Zhong-Jing — a variation of Xie Bai San.

Actions: Sedates the Lung; Regulates water; Corrects rebellious Lung qi; Relieves dyspnea.

Presentation: Coughing and dyspnea with chest fullness and profuse phlegm and saliva.

Preparation

Cook 12 Da Zao in 3 cups [600 mL] water down to 2 cups [400 mL]; discard Da Zao, add Ting Li Zi and reduce to 1 cup [200 mL]; take immediately. Today use bracketed doses.
