Description

San Ceng Hui Xiang Wan (Fennel Seed Pill with Three Levels), from the Jing Yue Quan Shu (Collected Treatises of [Zhang] Jing Yue) by Zhang Jie-Bin (Zhang Jing-Yue) — a variation of Tian Tai Wu Yao San.

Actions: Warms the Kidney and dispels cold; Regulates Liver qi circulation and relieves hernial pain.

Presentation: Cold hernia: lower abdominal pain, cold testicles, enlarged and hardened testicles, enlarged scrotum making walking difficult.

Composition: Three graded formulas. Level One = first 4 herbs; Level Two adds Bi Bo and Bing Lang; Level Three adds Fu Ling and Fu Zi. Doses identical across levels. Start with Level One; progress to Two and Three if pain continues.

Preparation

Source: grind to powder, form mung-bean-sized pills with rice paste; take 20-30 pills per dose on an empty stomach three times daily with warm grain-based liquor or salted water; may increase to 30-40 pills depending on severity.
