Description
Ru Xing Tang (Mosla and Apricot Kernel Decoction), from Selected Formulas for Warm-Heat Pathogen Diseases (c. 1900).
Associated formula of Qing Luo Yin.
Actions: Clears the upper burner; Disseminates and facilitates the Lung qi to expel summerheat
Indications: Summerheat entering through the nose and attacking the protective qi and Lungs: distended feeling in the head, dirty complexion, fever without sweating, burnt sensation in the body, dry mouth and teeth, incomplete and irregular bowel movements, yellow and reduced urination, thin, dry, white tongue coating, pulse rapid and floating on the right but deficient with stronger pressure.
Pattern: Summerheat obstructing dissemination of Lung qi with heat just below the surface
Usage: Composed by He Lian-Chen from Ye Tian-Shi's case records for more severe heat obstructing the Lung qi than the main formula, using a few light herbs to open the surface with a light sweat.
Commentary: Illustrates the idea that light herbs can remove excess; lighter and more nimble than Newly Augmented Mosla Drink. A note gives Luffae Folium a normal dosage of 6-15g (15-60g fresh).
Category: Formulas that Dispel Summerheat and Clear Heat.
