Description

Leng Xiao Wan (Cold Wheezing Pill), from the Zhang Shi Yi Tong (Comprehensive Medicine According to Master Zhang) by Zhang Lu-Xuan — a variation of Ling Gan Wu Wei Jiang Xin Tang.

Actions: Dispels cold and expels phlegm.

Presentation: Cold invasion to the upper back: coughing and wheezing after cold exposure, distention and fullness of chest and diaphragm, inability to lie flat due to dyspnea.

Preparation

Source text: grind to fine powder, form pills with powdered Shen Qu and fresh Sheng Jiang juice; at onset take 6g (3g if weak) at bedtime with tea of 6g Sheng Jiang, and apply San Jian Gao topically to Feishu (BL 13). Today: pills with fresh ginger juice, 6g twice daily with warm water or ginger decoction, plus San Jian Gao on BL 13. After the acute phase resolves, give Spleen/Stomach tonics. Doses are batch quantities for pills.
