Description

Bi Ba Bing (Long Pepper Cake), from Introduction to Medicine (1575).

Actions: Warms the exterior; Dispels cold; Opens the nose

Indications: Nasal congestion with copious clear discharge from a wind-cold exterior pattern

Preparation

Coarse powder of bi ba and xiang fu pounded with fresh garlic into a cake about 2cm wide and 1cm thick; heat, place on GV-22 (xin hui) and keep warm with moxa (source used an iron).
